EPS

EXPANDABLE POLYSTYRENE (EPS)

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) or foam Polystyrene, is a closed porocity thermo-plastic, generally in white colour, obtained by polymerization of stiren monomer. In EPS products made by blowing and fusing of Polystyrene particles, the gas used to blow up the particles for foam formation is called “Pentane”. Pentane is an organic component that quickly replaces air during and following production after forming many pores in particles. With the release of Pentane, still-air gets locked in the many small closed porocity cells within the material.

The material is 98% still-air and 2% polystrene. EPS is a light, free machining, durable material with low thermal conductivity. It is used in heat and sound insulations of all kinds of structures as well as packaging industry.
